How did you your semester of 2024 end? Hope it was in style and youthful. Here is what happened at Kabakoo 😉!

🎶 Just like us in June, experience the magic of Alphaville's “Forever Young” – a melody that whispers the secrets of youth and time. Dive into it and let your heart soar.🎶

What are we building?

Kabakoo is a community-driven upskilling platform designed to allow young people in West Africa to develop the mindset and the skills needed to improve their life in a context of missing formal jobs.

☀️ June 2024 Highlights ☀️

After yet another round of learners interviews, focus groups, and sketches on the drawing board, the latest version of the Kabakoo app is now available on the Appstore as it is on the Playstore! As the app has now an onboarding path allowing us to use AI to tailor each learning experience according to the interests and needs of the learner, we are really looking forward to the learnings this new version is holding for us.

In addition to the onboarding, other main features of the new Kabakoo app—internally referred to by the (German) codename "Wette"—include a unified interface and enhanced gamification through badges.

  • The chart below indicates that the update seems to be related with improved learner engagement and onboarding efficiency, resulting in a higher percentage of learner progressing through the key steps of account creation, onboarding, and interaction with the AI-Mentor. However, we are still figuring out the eventual impact on an ongoing interaction with the AI-mentor. Plus, we acknowledge that these numbers are too low and early to celebrate. We still have to be better in the retention ring 🥊.
  • The month of June has seen Kabakoo meeting ministers! 3 actually 😎! We had the honor of being invited to the Digital Week organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy in Mali. Our team showcased, among others, our latest work in terms of AI with our voice mentor in Bamanankan (a major language in Mali also spoken in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Guinea). In fact, we had the privilege of being the only organization/company with a booth in the same space as the booths of the participating guest countries. Our participation to the event was a crucial moment to intensify our relationship with the relevant governmental bodies.

  • We were on national television (and yes stress levels were hiiiigh ⚡, thanks for asking!) Following our participation in the Digital Week, Kabakoo was invited to Actu Hebdo, a major 45-min live show on the first Malian national channel ORTM!

Apart from the overall national exposure, this participation strengthens the image of Kabakoo in the country as The startup to work with, especially as we move forward to deploy a new distribution strategy.

Kabakoo Faces

(With over 31 000 registered learners, each month we spotlight a member of our vibrant community.)

This month we would like to introduce you to Emmanuel G. He joined the Kabakoo community through one of our 2023 cohorts. Since the end of the cohort, Emma was clear on the objectives he set during his visualization modules: launch his cloud kitchen food services! So did he after the training, now focusing 100% on his project. He is already providing events and companies with his services, while fine-tuning his order system with Airtable and WhatsApp.

This is Emmanuel G.

Thanks for reading. 🙏🏿
